My Law School Admission Journey (So Far)

This week, I'm applying to law schools.
Yup, that's right. This little nerd is on her way to officially become Legally Blonde. And boy oh boy, has this process been a true journey so far! Today, I'm here to talk to you about my holy grail throughout this process, and that's Ann Levine's book, The Law School Admission Game.
I first heard of this book when Ann gave a guest talk through the LSAT Demon, aka the one thing you need to crush the LSAT. But crushing the LSAT isn't the only thing you need to get into law school. I'd been so focused on putting all of my time, effort, and brainpower into the LSAT, I hadn't really considered the rest of my application materials. That's where this book came in.
For those who don't know what the law school admission process looks like, you need to submit a smattering of materials to the Law School Admissions Council, which will then be sent to every law school you apply to. That includes your LSAT score, your GPA, your college transcripts, a personal statement that encompasses why they should want you, a diversity statement that communicates the hardships you've faced and overcome, any addendums that explain any weaknesses in your application materials, and letters of recommendation. Needless to say, it's a lot.
To do well, you really do need some help, and that's where this book comes in. I had no idea how to put my personal statement together, or what the heck I should include in my diversity statement, and this book definitely made it easier. Even beyond what to submit, she discusses her insights from her career in admissions at Loyola-Marymount, so you learn not just what to do, but how to do it best. Seriously, this book is the best for succeeding in the lawschool application process.
For now, I'm reading the sections of how to choose which schools to strategically apply to, and I'm ready to submit my applications.
Of course, this book is best for those who are applying to law school, which isn't for everyone, but if you are, definitely read this one! And you can expect to see more posts about this process, because it's literally occupying my whole life right now.
